Makeover Or Not?
I need your opinion!
I found these adorable owls at a Thrift Store and can't decide if I want to give them a makeover or not?!
I sort of love their vintage quality, yet I love the look of a solid color statue.
My Husband and Brother think they should go Orange, but I'm not sure.  So, all opinions are welcome.
Please HELP!

Mother Daughter Tea
 With a Touch of
 Breakfast At Tiffany's
All last week I helped my Husband with the decor for his Mother Daughter Tea event that took place on Saturday.  The theme was Breakfast At Tiffany's.  My Husband likes to keep the budget for decorations low, yet still wants it to be cute.  Thank goodness he has a wife(Me) to help him out!  I love the challenge.
Here is what I came up with.
Above is a thrift store picture and frame that I spray painted white and gave a coat of Chalkboard paint.  Easy as a welcome sign for the event and it can be used for any future events.
He wanted to use flowers, but they can get pretty spendy.  Instead, we used something cheaper, but still made the tables look very feminine. Baby's Breath worked wonderful.  We also found a pair of black heels at a Thrift Store for the welcome table and borrowed some pearls from one of his wonderful co-workers.  Thank you Linda!
My Husband is amazing at making brochures and fliers.  This is the cover of the brochures he created.
There were six, smaller tables that had these centerpieces.  We used regular blue gift bags(just cut off the handles) and stuffed them with white tissue.  We also collected Mason and other canning jars to use as candle holders.
The vases were made out of used, tin cans that I wrapped with some dollar store white ribbon and hot glued on loose beads that look like pearls. These were also filled with Baby's Breath.  I think it turned out pretty cute for the budget.
Here is a close-up shot of the tin can vases.
Of course we had to make some tissue paper pom poms.  We just made a large bunch of them for the center of the room in blue, white and silver.
These were the centerpieces for the larger tables.  We used one large Mason jar as a candle holder.  We also did the gift bags, but in a larger size.(wouldn't you love the get a bag that big from Tiffany's?)  Finally, we spray painted bottles in a pretty turquoise color form Krylon called Blue Ocean Breeze.  We used the bottles as a vase for more Baby's Breath.
I've never been a fan of Baby's Breath, but just by itself, it's actually kind of pretty, light and airy for decorating.
Here is a close-up of the bottle.
I didn't get to attend the actual event.  It is called Mother Daughter Tea and I have two boys.  So, needless to say I didn't get any pictures during the event of performers or of the buffet.  I did get to see some of the treats before and it looked pretty tasty.
I hope all the ladies that attended the event enjoyed their time and enjoyed the atmosphere.

Rustic Box
Finally, I have pictures of the box to share with you!
A few months ago, I pinned a box like this from Shanty 2 Chic.  My Sister happened to see that I had pinned it and gave me a call informing me how cute she thought it was and that her husband, Scott could easily make it.  She asked me,"Would you want one?"  What do you say to that?  UH, YES PLEASE!  She told me he knocked it out in like a half hour.  A little info about my brother-in-law Scott...his background is in construction and he is amazing at building anything.
A huge, huge thank you to him for making this for me!  I love it
 Now, because I didn't build it myself, I don't have a step by step tutorial.  However, I took several close-up pictures of how it's put together.  If you'd like a step by step tutorial, you can see a similar one {HERE}
The short sides are 6 and a half inches long.
The long sides are 2 and a half feet.  Perfect for our long kitchen table.
The edges are cut at angles!

I hope the pictures helped with how it was put together.  Because all my Mason jars are being used this weekend for a Mother Daughter Tea event(I'll be sharing photos all next week of decor) I put in a temporary filler.
I am so excited to have this box.  Can't you see the decorating potential for every season?!
Happy Friday everyone!

Mother Daughter Tea
I think I've shared with you before that my husband works for our local Parks and Recreation Department.  He gets to plan all sorts of fun events and classes.  Lucky for me, he asks for decorating ideas for these events.  I love it.
This weekend he has and event called Mother Daughter Tea.  Now, I don't have a daughter, but I'm totally up for decorating. When you're a blogger and see all the fun ideas floating out in blog land and Pinterest, it's heaven to be able to put some of the ideas to use.  All next week I'll be sharing the details and decorations.  I finally get to tap into my girly side(I live with all boys).
This years theme:
Breakfast At Tiffany's
Can't wait to share everything with you!

Changing Colors
The day I took this picture was the day I broke my old camera!  I snapped this shot and then put my camera on top of the car.  Well, you can guess what happened to it next.  Luckily, my oh so sweet family bought me a new one and I can finally share new pictures of our bench.
Goodbye Yellow Bench!
Hello Martha Stewart Duck Egg Blue!  The perfect mix of a Blue-ish Green.
Ahhh, so much better!  I love this color.  I painted it back around Easter, and it was perfect for a Spring makeover.
It adds so much interest to a home when you have a larger piece of furniture painted in a bright, cheery color.
I had to add these pictures onto this post.  Our pretty girl, Penny was being such a good model!
Way to stand and look over your shoulder Penny!

A Box & Beautiful Color
I have a preview for you of two new projects...FINALLY!    I'll be sharing both with you this week, but I thought I'd give you a little teaser first.  Notice the lovely shade of green/blue on the bench.
And the rustic box holding some beautiful Lilacs.

Happy Friday
Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off... the right pitch will come, but when it does, be prepared to run the bases. ~Rick Maksian

Instead of boring you with more decor, I thought it would be a good day to share some inspiration.  I love this quote!
Happy Friday Everyone.
