GIANT Ginger Cookies

All I can say about this recipe is, these are DELICIOUS! You must try them. If you love the taste of ginger, these are the cookies for you. I've been making these since 2004, and I just love them!
Combine in a bowl:
4 1/2 C. Flour
4 tsp ground ginger
2tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
In another bowl:
1 1/2 C. Shortening-beat with mixer for 30 sec.
Add in
2 C. Sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 C. Molasses
combine wet and dry ingredients
Roll into 2 inch balls and then roll them around in a bowl filled with about
1/2 C. Sugar
Place them on a baking sheet about 2 1/2 inches apart and
Bake at 350 degrees for 11-13 min.
Let cool on a cooling rack for 10 min. Then,

  1. mmmm. Sounds yummy. I will add these to my Christmas cookie list.

  2. I just made these the other day, but made a giant mistake; I did not make them big enough! I am going to make mine over and as the saying goes...go big or go home.
What kind {brand} of molasses do you use?

  3. I made these for a Bible study group. They came out great! Especially good when still warm as they are crunchy on the outside and still chewy on the inside! I already had a favorite gingerbread cookie recipe but this one is a close second and I will make them again! Thanks for the recipe!

  4. Your cookies look so yummy!
